Every other market we support (US, China, Schengen, India, Japan, Canada) uses a white background. The UK's gov.uk guidance is explicit: plain light-coloured — cream or light grey. This app composites onto that background by default, not white.

This app targets the digital upload spec used for online visa/UKVI account applications. A printed 35×45mm photo (same physical size) is still used as a fallback at some VFS Global visa application centres — the same export works for both. Final acceptance is always at the discretion of UKVI or the visa application center you use.
