Every other market we support (US, China, Schengen, India, Japan, Canada) uses a white background. The UK's gov.uk guidance is explicit: plain light-coloured — cream or light grey. This app composites onto that background by default, not white.

What we optimize for (UK visa photo)

The app guides composition toward the digital photo spec published on gov.uk. Always confirm the latest rules before you submit — government guidance can change without notice.

630×810 px export — comfortably exceeds gov.uk's 600×750 px minimum, at the correct 35:45 aspect ratio.
Light grey/cream background — not white — matching gov.uk's stated rule.
Head height 64–76% of frame (29–34mm of a 45mm frame), the print-photo convention we also apply to the digital export.
JPEG size policy — export sized within gov.uk's 50 KB – 6 MB window.
No face reshaping — segmentation and cropping only; we don't slim or resize facial geometry.
Privacy — segmentation and matting run on your iPhone; no separate upload to our servers for processing.

This app targets the digital upload spec used for online visa/UKVI account applications. A printed 35×45mm photo (same physical size) is still used as a fallback at some VFS Global visa application centres — the same export works for both. Final acceptance is always at the discretion of UKVI or the visa application center you use.
